Ellen Grenadier has been making tableware and custom tiles and murals all of her adult life! After receiving a BA from Connecticut College she studied salt glazing under a grant from the Tiffany Foundation and went on to become a co-founding member of Clay Dragon Studios, a clay cooperative in Cambridge, MA. Thirty years ago she moved to Monterey MA, in the Berkshire Hills, where she maintains a studio and gallery. She was head of the Ceramics Department at IS183 Art School of the Berkshires (now Berkshire Art Center) for twelve years. She has shown her functional clay work and custom tiles and murals throughout the United States and participated in retail shows including Craftboston, the ACC Wintermarket, the Philadelphia Craft Show, the Minnesota Pottery Tour, and more.

Living in the Berkshire countryside has had a deep influence on her work, with its closeness to the natural world and changing seasons. Natural elements have been part of her ceramic work for years and she has begun to explore working with pastel to express the beauty of the landscape.
