Marilyn Orner

BAC Faculty Artist: Painting

Website

While all art materials excite her, Marilyn Orner is a painter who primarily uses oils. Long enamored with still life, she now searches the landscape that surrounds her for moments that stand out, that surprise, or that are imbued with the play of light and reflections, which become her subject. She is also curious about the human presence in the landscape.

Orner has taught art most of her working life. She holds a BFA from California College of the Arts, and an M.Ed. from Lesley University. She teaches painting at Berkshire Art Center in Lenox, Ma. She is a member of the National Association of Women Artists, and of 510 Warren Street Gallery in Hudson, N.Y. Her work has won awards, most recently in the 2023 National Association of Women Artists annual exhibit in NYC, and is in many private collections.

She recognizes that, although painting is a very solitary act, it is in the presence of others that the work gets seen and heard and felt- that it comes alive. She is, therefore, very happy to have you see her work here.
