BAC Faculty Artist: Fiber Arts

I am a self taught fiber artist. I have spent the past six years working on my craft using YouTube videos and books as my main resources. I fell in love with the fiber art form because it is so easy to learn yet so complex in what you can do with it. Over the past two years I have been awarded a grant from the Lee Cultural Council to teach beginning tapestry weaving to adults and teens in the town of Lee.

The tapestry art form requires one to understand how the tapestry structure works, the ability to manipulate material, use the tools required and the challenge of design. I hope to teach many basic techniques, how to vary them for different effects, how to apply these skills to different portions of a design and how to plan an entire piece. Anyone who has learned these skills can weave tapestry.
