IS183 Art School of the Berkshires proudly presents handcrafted macrame work by Liz Olney at the Brothership Building Window Gallery in June. Liz believes “all macrame are dream catchers!” and will also be teaching two upcoming macrame workshops at IS183.
About the Artist: I started my career as a leather craftsman when I arrived in New York from England making leather clothing for rock stars. Next I joined the handbag industry designing for various well-known companies. After achieving great success in the fashion world, I decided to start my own line of products that would reflect my personality. After moving to the Berkshires, I launched a line of leather jewelry including bracelets, necklaces, hair clips and bolo ties as well as leather bags, pouches and paperweights. I have shown my wares at various craft shows including the Handmade Holiday Show, Apple Squeeze, the Zucchini Festival, farmer’s markets and other pop up opportunities as well as selling through several local retail outlets.
Over the years I have also enjoyed creating a variety of macrame interior decor, window, and wall hangings, room dividers and more. With macrame very much back in fashion, I’m really excited to be teaching this beautiful and easy to learn craft to all who are interested.
An opening reception will be held by the artist from 5 to 8 pm in the Brothership Building Lobby during the First Fridays Artswalk in Downtown Pittsfield on June 7.
