The Brothership Building North Gallery Window curated by Berkshire Art Center will feature “Honoring Ancestry” by Peter Vacchina for the month of October.
About the Show:
These marble sculptures reflect some of the life experiences of my ancestors and possibly yours too. The wave sculptures are a tribute in honor of all immigrants who traveled by ship over oceans in search of new homes in the USA. The “Heart in Hand” tiles speak for themselves.
Artist Bio:
I am a sculptor working primarily in marble, mosaic, and the occasional ice sculpture. My art reflects my personal life experiences, particularly my time living and traveling abroad. Before becoming a full-time artist in Pittsfield, I lived and taught science in Belgium, Brazil, Mexico, England, Italy, and California. I appreciate the challenge of working in marble and its potential to last for centuries. In my marble sculptures, I seek to invoke memory in the way a scent or sound might, and in doing so inspire heartfelt stories in the viewer.
Opening Reception:
The artist will be holding an Opening Reception on Friday, October 4th, from 5-7pm in the lobby of the Brothership Building (141 North Street, Pittsfield).
