Join visual artist and poet, Ari Wolff, for a deep-dive into watercolor painting! The class will begin with methods for painting from observation, including wash value scales, wet and dry technique combinations, negative painting, and layering. We will experiment with still life as well as figurative, illustrative, and abstract watercolor painting through examining the work of several contemporary artists including Jia Sung, Kindah Khalidy, Chioma Ebinama, Haejin Park, Barbara Ernst Prey, and Meghan Hildebrand. Students will leave with a small portfolio watercolor paintings and experiments as well as tools to continue creating! Students of all levels are welcome.
