About ARTcentric: Berkshires
The ARTcentric: Berkshires program positions local, established, Berkshire artists as “the masters” with each project inspired by their techniques and artistic visions. Through "Artist Spotlight" handouts, "About the Artist" and "Deep Dive" videos, and other live, video-based, and virtual resources, students will dive into the life and work of each artist and use their passion and mastery as inspiration for engaging, multi-media art projects. Led by IS183's talented faculty Artists, in ARTcentric: Berkshires, students will be introduced to artists, virtually "visit" their studios, hear about their journey to become professional artists, and finally create work using the same techniques. Students will assign a deeper meaning to the art they see in the county and develop a pride of place as they learn about the talent in our region. The program gives new definitions to “artists” and “art”, takes artists out of history books, and opens up possibilities for future careers.

Featured Artists
Jesse Tobin McCauley:
Jesse is a painter and graphic designer working in the Berkshires. She received her degree from Otis College of Art & Design in Los Angeles. Jesse has worked as a graphic designer in Los Angeles, New York and the Berkshires. She also sits on the board of the Berkshire Art Association. As a Pittsfield native, she was a part of the art collective, Group W, that held large scale exhibitions in a steel fabrication plant in Pittsfield. Currently she is a member of the art crew, The Tobin Trifecta. Her paintings are mixed media on canvas and paper - bursts of bold, bright, saturated color. They evoke a feeling of happiness through the flood of interacting abstract color. Jesse also recently unveiled a new mural on North Street, Pittsfield.
Danny O:
Danny O’s resourceful nature fuels his transformation of everyday objects including old magazines, discarded books, and record albums into contemporary art. In 2005 he made it into the Guiness Book of World Records for creating the largest found ball mosaic. Danny O’s work has been featured in group exhibits at MASS MoCA, the DeCordova Museum, and the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art. Danny has also had solo and group exhibitions in Boston and New York and permanent exhibits in Toronto and Boston Children’s Hospital. Noted by 3M as being the first person to make art with scotch tape, Danny O was the spokesperson for 3M on their 30th Anniversary for his intricate tape illustrations. His work has also been featured in Oprah magazine. Danny O lives in the Berkshires in North Adams, MA.
