There is no better way of bringing a puppet to life than learning how to move together as a group and learning how to perform in sync with your fellow performers. Using the style of the Japanese form of puppetry known as Bunraku, students will learn a different way of performing puppets as an ensemble. After learning how to move using a simple paper puppet, we will build much more dynamic puppets and create a performance, which will truly make our creations come to life and dazzle our audience of families and friends.
(In the event that BAC has to cancel a class session due to weather or facility emergencies, please note the pre-scheduled make up date will be Sunday, February 2. More information on our policies for cancellations can be found HERE.)
HEALTH FORMS
Each student is required to have a current Health and Emergency Contact Form on file with Berkshire Art Center (BAC). Please fill out a Health Form for each child that will be attending a BAC program. Health Forms are due as soon as possible at the time of registration and no later than one week before a program begins. Please ensure you have your child’s insurance information ready when filling out the form.
CLASS MATERIALS
Students are encouraged but not required, to bring old children's clothes to costume their puppets. As always in BAC programs, students should wear clothes that can get messy during art making and comfortable, closed toe shoes.
ACCESSIBILITY
NOTE: This class will be held in Berkshire Art Center’s 2D Studio at Citizens’ Hall, Stockbridge. Our 2D Studio is located on the main level of the building, which is accessible via a ramp from the parking lot.
