Emphasizing the development of creative thought while working in a supportive atmosphere, this course is for all levels. Beginners can discover oil or acrylics for the first time. More advanced students can continue to develop their skills. There will be demonstrations, learning from the masters, experimentation, and assistance cultivating each student’s individual vision. Beginner will learn the basics: setting up a palette and workspace, using tools and mediums, applying paint, and developing a painting from start to finish while gaining confidence with the use of paint and color. Continuing students have the option of working on their own self-directed projects or on exercises and projects tailored to each student.

CLASS MATERIALS
Students registering for this class who need materials can purchase the Painting & Drawing Class Materials ($40 fee) along with their class registration to be provided with materials for the course.

UPDATED MASK POLICY
As of June 4, 2024, please note masks are no longer required for this specific class. The instructor will still be wearing a mask during class and students are also welcome to wear a mask if they prefer.
ACCESSIBILITY
NOTE: This class will be held in Berkshire Art Center’s 2D Studio at Citizens’ Hall, Stockbridge. Our 2D Studio is located on the main level of the building, which is accessible via a ramp from the parking lot. In addition, restrooms are located on the basement level of our building so stair use is also required.
For all classes held at Citizens’ Hall in Stockbridge, please note our historic building has narrow doorways and is not equipped with an elevator. Our bathrooms, ceramics studio, and 3D studio are accessible via stairs only. We welcome and make every effort to accommodate learners of all styles and abilities. Please contact us if you have questions about accessibility to our building and classes before registering!
