Ever wonder how those puppets you see on television and in movies are made? Learn the secrets to building your very own foam patterned hand and rod puppet and all the materials, elements, and skills that go into making them look so real and lifelike. We will also learn fundamentals to creating a character through the use of color, texture, different materials, and movement, as well as how to manipulate your puppet to bring your character to life. These puppets are sewn and covered in fleece using the “Henson” or “Ladder” stitch. No previous puppetry skills needed (basic hand sewing skills are very very helpful though), just your imagination and creativity are required.
Each student is required to have a current Health and Emergency Contact Form on file with Berkshire Art Center. Please fill out a Health Form for each child that will be attending a BAC program. Health Forms are due as soon as possible at the time of registration and no later than one week before a program begins. Please ensure you have your child’s insurance information ready when filling out the form.
