Virtual After-School Program

Spring 2021: Edition 1

Open to Grades K-5/6

Join IS183 Art School on Zoom for our NEW after-school program!

In Edition 1 of ARTcentric, kids will be introduced to the work of two local Berkshire artists: Jesse Tobin McCauley and Danny O. Together we’ll dive into the life and work of each artist, virtually visit their studios and use their passion and mastery as inspiration for engaging, multi-media art projects.

  • Jesse is an abstract painter who uses fun scribble scrabble techniques, often paints without a paint brush, and just unveiled a mural right on North Street in Pittsfield!

  • Danny creates incredible paper collages, has exhibited his work at MASS MoCA, and even holds a world record for the largest ball mosaic installation art!

Learn all about these inspiring artists and explore the creativity of the Berkshires!

Materials

Families may supply their own materials or purchase and pick up an ARTcentric Basic Materials Kit ($12) and/or an ARTcentric Edition 1 Add-On Kit ($30).

Online Classes at IS183

Register for a class (or series) on our website, and we will email you a Zoom meeting link along with instructions. Simply use the link to join the online class at the designated time! Download the Zoom app on your smartphone or tablet, or use your laptop/desktop web browser. The web browser client will download automatically when you join your first Zoom meeting. (Have a look at this Zoom overview.)

You will join a live, interactive lesson presented in real-time by an IS183 Faculty Artist. Small class sizes will allow you to engage personally with the instructor and other students, just like in the studio! Faculty lessons will primarily be demonstration-based, but may have segments in which students are challenged to work on independent assignments. Each class and faculty approach will be unique!

Thank you for continuing to make art and support IS183 Art School! We look forward to seeing you in the (virtual) studios!
