Portrait Painting Workshop — May 15
Instructor: Chalice Mitchell
Day & Time: Sunday, 10:00am-4:00pm
Class Date: May 15, 2022
Location: Citizens' Hall, Stockbridge
Materials List: See class description.
Students with all levels of experience are welcome to join Portrait Painting. Instruction will be given through demos and one-on-one guidance. We will learn to create a likeness by simplifying the form of the head, using value to create form, understanding the simple anatomy of the face and head, depicting the individuality of the subject, and balancing cool and warm tones with a limited palette to learn to balance cool and warm colors. Chalice will teach in oils, but students are welcome to paint in acrylic if they prefer.
Note: This workshop will include a 30 minute lunch break at 12:30pm. Please be sure to bring food, as IS183 Art School is not closely located near anywhere to purchase lunch.
(In the event that IS183 has to cancel a class session due to weather or facility emergencies, please note the pre-scheduled makeup date for this workshop will be Sunday, May 22. More information on our policies for cancellations can be found HERE.)
Each student (age 14+) is required to have a current Proof of Vaccination Form on file with IS183. Please fill out and submit a form prior to the first day of your class.
