The Coil Pot: A Contemporary Approach — May 31

This class will explore a creative, contemporary approach to the traditional coil pot. What happens when you create a pot from flat textured coils? What if you make a "patchwork pot?" We will explore the effects of tearing and stretching clay as well as integrating color and organic materials into the clay as we build. Bring your ideas and a sense of adventure as we stretch our vision of the coil pot!

Each student (age 14+) is required to have a current Proof of Vaccination Form on file with IS183. Please fill out and submit a form prior to the first day of your class.
CLASS MATERIALS
Students registering for this class must purchase the Ceramics Class Materials Fee including clay, glazing, and firing (unless you have leftover clay purchased from IS183 in the last year). Per the instructor's recommendation, beginner students registering for this class should purchase the “95400 White Clay” option. Intermediate/Advanced students may select the clay type of their choice.
There is a materials/firing fee is for every 25 lbs (sleeve) of clay used. This fee goes towards glaze materials and firing costs (fuel, electricity, etc). Choose from white, red, porcelain or reclaimed (mix of camp and white) clay. More clay can be purchased if needed.
Due to the rise in cost from the supplier, Berkshire Art Center has raised the price of clay as of 9/21/2023.
NOTE: White Clay will be back in stock on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024.
