We will approach the clay box as a functional and sculptural form. Using both soft slab and leather hard construction, we can create endless shapes: rectangular, oval, curved, or in the form of an animal. The possibilities are as broad as our imaginations. Learn the steps involved in creating a well fitted lid as well as how the different stages of clay influence the building techniques, surface and the final form of your hand built ceramic box.

(In the event that IS183 has to cancel a class session due to weather or facility emergencies, please note the pre-scheduled makeup date for this course will be Tuesday, April 12. More information on our policies for cancellations can be found HERE.)

Each student (age 14+) is required to have a current Proof of Vaccination Form on file with IS183. Please fill out and submit a form prior to the first day of your class.
