If you have always wanted to try your hand at the pottery wheel, want to brush up on rusty skills, or even need to workshop ideas for a more ambitious project, this class is for you! We will learn, review and practice a broad range of skills related to throwing, assemblage, and surface decoration. Bring your ambitions and we will make them come to life! Open to both new and continuing students.

(No Class 4/10 or 4/17)

(In the event that IS183 has to cancel a class session due to weather or facility emergencies, please note the pre-scheduled makeup date for this course will be Sunday, May 8. More information on our policies for cancellations can be found HERE.)

Each student (age 14+) is required to have a current Proof of Vaccination Form on file with IS183. Please fill out and submit a form prior to the first day of your class.

CLASS MATERIALS

  • Students registering for this class must purchase the Ceramics Class Materials Fee including clay, glazing, and firing (unless you have leftover clay purchased from IS183 in the last year). Per the instructor's recommendation, beginner students registering for this class should purchase the “95400 White Clay" option. Intermediate/Advanced students may select the clay type of their choice.

  • Students should bring a towel, sketch book, and any reference images.


Ceramics Class Materials
from $30.00

There is a materials/firing fee is for every 25 lbs (sleeve) of clay used. This fee goes towards glaze materials and firing costs (fuel, electricity, etc). Choose from white, red, porcelain or reclaimed (mix of camp and white) clay. More clay can be purchased if needed.

Due to the rise in cost from the supplier, Berkshire Art Center has raised the price of clay as of 9/21/2023.

NOTE: Porcelain Clay is currently out of stock as of November 5th, 2024.
