ARTcentric: Berkshires
Inspired by Nature (Edition 4)

In this edition of ARTcentric: Berkshires, we will use nature as our starting point as we explore the work of three local artists. Alicia Soos believes art is power, and that art unlocks the layers of people's brains. She makes illustrations inspired by the world around her and her own imagination. Anina Major is from a tropical climate, and uses the influence of that environment to create sculptures. Ellen Grenadier makes pottery using the colors of nature around her and impressions of the plants that grow near her home in the Berkshires.bTogether we will look at Alicia's illustrations and create Art Nouveau style animals and landscapes. Anina's sculptures will inspire our own weavings using paper, fiber, and natural objects. And Ellen's work will guide us as we explore printmaking with leaf prints and create decorated printed vessels.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Richmond Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
