Students will explore linoleum block carving and printmaking techniques as a way of expressing a unique personality in high contrast. We will use black and white photo portraits as the starting point for our linoleum prints. Once images have been transferred, students will learn carving techniques that utilize negative space to create a design that’s ready to print. We'll get to play with printing on diverse materials and students will leave with several one-of-a-kind prints and a tote bag.
Upon registration, students will be asked to send a high-contrast photo or selfie to be used for the project. Students who don't provide a photo will be provided with images of celebrities, artists, etc. that they can choose from!
(In the event that BAC has to cancel a class due to weather or facility emergencies, please note the pre-scheduled makeup date for this workshop will be Saturday, November 26. BAC will prorate students for any classes missed due religious observation and high holidays on which classes are scheduled. More information on our policies for cancellations can be found HERE.)
Each student is required to have a current Health and Emergency Contact Form on file with Berkshire Art Center (BAC). Please fill out this form for each child that will be attending a BAC program. All students (ages 6+) are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by their first day of class so please ensure you have your child’s vaccination card and insurance information ready when filling out the form.
