(No Class: 9/8)

In this class, we will discuss natural phenomena (sunrise, tidal flow, erosion, fog etc.), how they make us feel, and our own individual experiences. To begin this class we will start by creating an abstract representation of a phenomenon in the medium of your choice. This could include drawing, painting, writing, collage, photography, or even computer designs. Taking inspiration from that abstract work, we will then interpret it into a three dimensional ceramic sculpture. This final representation of your natural phenomenon may portray your view and emotion when thinking about or experiencing it. Some experience in a 2D medium and/or ceramics is helpful though not required.

Class Schedule

The first and second class will be for discussing natural phenomena, and then creating a 2D art of choice.

The third and fourth class will be for using clay to build and glaze your ceramic work.

The fifth class will be to receive work and engage in a group discussion/showing of both 2D and 3D ceramic sculptures.

pre-scheduled makeup

In the event that BAC has to cancel a class session due to weather or facility emergencies, please note a suitable makeup date will be selected by polling students for a majority vote. More information on our policies for cancellations can be found HERE.
