This course will focus on building the fundamental skills of wheel throwing. Students will learn the whole throwing process from centering to shaping different forms. Continuing to trimming and glazing, you will learn steps from start to finish to create pottery. Students will leave with finished pieces and the knowledge to start their independent ceramics practice.
This class is geared towards beginners, but is also appropriate for moderately experienced students who are looking for a refresher on foundational skills.
(In the event that BAC has to cancel a class session due to weather or facility emergencies, please note the pre-scheduled makeup date for this course will be Monday, December 12. BAC will prorate students for any classes missed due religious observation and high holidays on which classes are scheduled. More information on our policies for cancellations can be found HERE.)
Each student (age 14+) is required to have a current Proof of Vaccination Form on file with BAC. Please fill out and submit a form prior to the first day of your class.

CLASS MATERIALS
Students registering for this class must purchase the Ceramics Class Materials Fee including clay, glazing, and firing (unless you have leftover clay purchased from BAC in the last year). Per the instructor's recommendation, students registering for this class should purchase the “95400 White Clay” option.
There is a materials/firing fee is for every 25 lbs (sleeve) of clay used. This fee goes towards glaze materials and firing costs (fuel, electricity, etc). Choose from white, red, porcelain or reclaimed (mix of camp and white) clay. More clay can be purchased if needed.
Due to the rise in cost from the supplier, Berkshire Art Center has raised the price of clay as of 9/21/2023.
NOTE: White Clay will be back in stock on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024.
