Visible mending is an art form that celebrates the repair of an item of clothing or piece of fabric! Students will learn embroidery stitches and mending techniques through hands-on practice and apply these skills to a final project of their choice. They will understand the possibilities of visible mending as an art form by learning about the world of high fashion, why mending clothing relates to the environment, and how the practice of mending is a form of healing. Students are encouraged to bring in objects and clothing from their own lives that are in need of mending or embroidery.

(In the event that BAC has to cancel a class session due to weather or facility emergencies, please note as this class is already using its pre-scheduled makeup date that students will be notified via email about any additional cancellations and polled on a makeup. More information on our policies for cancellations can be found HERE.)

Each student is required to have a current Health and Emergency Contact Form on file with Berkshire Art Center (BAC). Please fill out a Health Form for each child that will be attending a BAC program. Health Forms are due as soon as possible at the time of registration and no later than one week before a program begins. Please ensure you have your child’s insurance information ready when filling out the form.
